Gameday - Mt. Oread vs Blacksburg

SOMEWHERE IN CANADA, Canada (BP) -- The Blacksburg Ballers are currently holding on to the 8th playoff spot in the Canadian AA League. With a 7-6 record and numerous teams clamoring for that last playoff spot, the Ballers are again in a must win situation against 7th spot holder Mt. Oread.

"Well the situation right now is that we need to win plain and simple," Owner Mike told the BP. "If we win then we keep our playoff spot, if we don't we will not. Playing the what if game will not happen because our team will finish out strong a secure a position in the playoffs."

Mike was optimistic about the team's chances this afternoon despite facing a very potent offense and staunch defense. The Hawk Stars have a cumulative 57% completion for their QB's. They also lead the league in defense and are the only team that has allowed less than 2000 total yards.

Khari Jones wasn't worried though. "We realize that this team is very talented and that they can get stops, but the thing that puts the Ballers apart from all the other teams is that we keep drives alive. We also change up our offenses so if one thing isn't working then we'll try something else and we have the talent and capabilities on the coaching staff to do that. I feel we can win this game and climb the playoff ladder even higher"

Jones has had a bit of a slump lately and realizes it.

"I know that a few games I haven't put up spectacular numbers, but what counts is managing the game. And I feel out of everyone in this league I am the best at it."

Khari and the rest of the Ballers will have that tested today as they face the 8-5 Mt. Oread Hawk Stars. With a win today Blacksburg could move into the 7th spot with a Mt. Oread loss or could be bumped out of the playoffs entirely if they lose this game and will have an uphill climb the rest of the season.
