THUNDER BAY (BP) -- The Ballers clinched their 2nd straight playoff berth this year following a 10-6 record and earned the 6th seed in the Canadian AAA #2. However the improvement over their 9-7 previous season and a promising new squad could not phase the Thunder Bay Storm as the Ballers lost 13-28.
The game's most striking stat was the fact that the Ballers were unable to cure the turnover bug that has bitten them all season. 3 INT's by QB Khari Jones and 2 fumbles by RB Pinchthat Nuggetout crippled many of Blacksburg's drives and was a main reason the Ballers came out on
the losing end of the stick.
"It's really not good to see this week after week," Head Coach Mike said. "These guys are professionals and when you start having to gameplan for turnovers, that's not good at all."
Nuggetout and Jones were both hampered by turnovers during the whole season. Nuggetout had 78 carries including the playoffs and fumbled 8 times losing 4 fumbles. Jones had 20 INT's including the playoffs, however to his credit he had 4 different starting WR's during the course of the season and continuity may have been the issue.
"It's just difficult right now to comprehend," Jones told the Blacksburg Press who finished with 213.5 yds, 1 TD and 3 INT's. "We were clicking on all cylinders coming in but we just hit a road block when we faced Thunder Bay."
However Thunder Bay was one of the more potent turnover machines, racking up 34 INT's and 28 forced fumbles.
Blacksburg could not measure up to the success of Thunder Bay on the ground as well. Thunder Bay amassed 164.5 total yds on the ground while Blacksburg managed a measly 47 yds.
"The holes weren't there and nothing developed," OG Hank Hitch said who still managed to have 5 pancakes in the game. "We tried different blocking schemes and throwing different looks at them but nothing seemed to work. And when we abandoned the run it was real difficult for Khari because he was facing nickel and quarter all the time. I still give a lot of credit to the guy, he hung in there and despite the 3 INT's I have a lot of respect for him."
One bright spot on the offense was however kicker Troy Westwood. Westwood, who had been known for missing extra points and chip shot field goals all throughout his first season in Blacksburg, managed to boot 2 50 yard field goals and did not miss on an attempt.
"I think my confidence is just back from where it was," Westwood said who finished 2 for 2 on field goals including a 50.5 yarder and 53.5 as well as 1 for 1 on extra points. "I was criticized for missing a lot of easy kicks that I should really have made last year and parts of this year. I just took that criticism as positive incentive to do better and I think it's really helped."
Despite Westwood's resurgence, Blacksburg's woes offensively translated to the defensive side of the ball as well. They gave up 164.5 rushing yds on 55 carries to the Storm and allowed Thunder Bay QB Bill Butcher to complete over 65% of his passes.
"We just didn't execute to our potential," LB Sev Shepperd said who finished with 4 tackles.
"They ran on us inside and outside, but ultimately it didn't matter they just shredded us. I think what we needed to do was attack the line of scrimmage better and on our tackles drive the RB's back further than we did. Bottom line is that we got run on and anytime that happens it tires out a defense and that's how they kept going."
The Ballers were certainly worn out by the end of the game. They had faced a team that ran the ball down their throats without hesitation and relentlessly went after QB Khari Jones's passes.
Looking to next year however the future is very bright for the Ballers. For one they will have had 2 years of playoff experience under their belt and will command a lot of attention. Also GM's kb and rbe will be looking to help this team in any way they can by adding new talent. Owner Mike has stated he is willing to open up his checkbook if need be to existing players and new players.
"I think it's important to keep the squad mostly intact. The chemistry you build as a team is extremely important and in order to do so I think we need to keep as many guys here as possible. On the flip side you still have to contend with teams getting better and with a few more FA's and some trades I think we'll be an even better team."
The Ballers will now have to sit and wait for the next season to come. They will be in the
Canadian AAA #2 again barring any changes by commissioner Bort. This means they will face the same foes they fought this season as well as some new ones moving up from the lower leagues and down from the Canadian Pro League.
*Great game guys it's real tough to lose, but I know everyone gave their all and excellent season. The game ball is going to Speed McLovin' for his 12 tackles, 5 TFL, and 1 sack. Nice game Speed and everyone else! Let's go all the way next year!*

Ballers Inch Closer to Playoffs with 20-16 Win
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- In a game that was won more on the defensive front rather than the offensive, the Blacksburg Ballers managed to squeak out a close victory 20-16 against the TSW Titans. Both teams struggled the entire game offensively, and it took 13 unanswered points by Blacksburg to get past the pesky Titans defense.
"It certainly was one of the more hard fought games," RB Pinchthat Nuggetout said who finished with 12 carries and 39.5 yds. "We certainly had to fight for every extra yard because of how well TSW's defense was playing."
The Ballers gained only 252 yards of total offense and QB Khari Jones had an especially tough time moving the ball with only 145.5 passing yds and 2 INT's.
"Their secondary was one of the best I've seen all year," Jones said who rallied the Ballers in the 2nd half down by 9 at one point. "They just had some great jumps on the ball and blanketed our receivers really well. I have to credit Troy though for making some real clutch field goals in the end there."
Jones was referring to kicker Troy Westwood who managed to boot 2 field goals in the 4th quarter to seal the victory for Blacksburg. The first was a season long 52 yard rocket that sailed through the uprights giving the Ballers a 1 point lead. The next was a 36 yarder with just under 6 minutes to go in the game that sealed the 20-16 victory.
"I had no idea that first one was going in," Westwood said who finished 2 for 4 on field goals. "I had previously missed 2 straight field goals and I was thinking when coach put me in 'oh god'. So I get up there and of course it's just nerve-wracking with the crowd yelling and everything. And I swear if I could have kicked that again from 80 yards I think I could have made it, that was how good I got my foot under it."
Westwood's heroics as well as the Blacksburg defensive effort were the main components to the Ballers's victory. CB Beast Baily grabbed his 9th interception of the year and that put him into a tie for 3rd in the entire Canadian AAA #2. The Ballers also managed to stop all of TSW's attempts at establishing a running game by holding them to 15 yards of total rush offense.
"The whole defense played exceptionally," DE Speed McLovin commented who had his 11th sack of the year putting him into a tie for 2nd in the Canadian AAA #2. "We all just came together and executed the gameplan. Just a great effort all around."
The Ballers will face their final opponent of the regular season, the Dallas Desperados on Tuesday. The Desperados come in at 7-8 and are the only team the Ballers will face in the Canadian AAA #2 Eastern Conference. The Eastern Conference has been dubbed the greater of the 2 conferences in the Canadian AAA and the Desperados will be a formidable opponent to the Ballers.
The Ballers need a victory to ensure a playoff berth, otherwise with a loss they endanger themselves of missing the playoffs entirely.
*Great job guys let's win this next game and get to the playoffs again! Troy Westwood gets the game ball, despite the misses he booted those 2 field goals to win the game so he deserves it.*

Ballers Demolish Devils 124-0
STRATHMORE (BP) -- The Ballers entered today's game playing one of the worst teams in the Canadan AAA, and they did what they were supposed to...kick some ass! 657.5 total yds for the Ballers and 41.5 total yds for the Devils should be enough to realize the beating Strathmore took.
"It was just an absolute slaughterfest," QB Khari Jones explained. "The game was over by kickoff."
The game was certainly over before kickoff, the Devils had not even scored a point for 6 straight weeks before this game and made it 7 straight following this game.
"There was no way we were going to lose," said WR TouchdownsOnly Owens. "We knew going in it was going to be bad, but we just didn't know it would turn out this bad."
The Ballers next opponent will be the TSW Titans. The Titans come in at 6-8, 11th place in the Western Conference.
*Great job everyone. This week the game ball goes to....THE WHOLE TEAM! You guys did awesome and to pick one player from all the great performances would do a diservice to the beating we put on Strathmore. Let's win the next 2 and solidify a playoff position. Go Ballers!*

Mt. Oread's Stifling Defense Holds Ballers 19-3
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- The Blacksburg Ballers approached today's game in a different sense than they had all year. Comments by Mt. Oread's owner JibJabz saying that the Ballers did not belong in the same "league" as Mt. Oread fueled resentment and anger from the Ballers's locker room. Unfortunately these high emotions did not translate onto the field with Blacksburg losing 19-3.
The Ballers's offense struggled the entire game to even move the ball and mustered only 130.5 total yds of offense. QB Khari Jones had one of his most difficult games in his career, only throwing for 98 yds and unable to find the end zone.
"It was frustrating to say the least," A dejected Khari Jones told the Blacksburg Press. "When you come in fired up like we were, it is just like someone sticking a knife into you when a game like this happens."
The running game fared no better than Jones. The offensive line could not open up any holes and it was difficult to even get any positive rushing yds. The Ballers had a paltry 32.5 total rushing yds and Alex Casino told the press he had never experienced anything like this.
"Just the amount of pressure we had coming from all directions hit me like a ton of bricks. There were no lanes we could go through and Mt. Oread deserves a lot of credit because they dominated the line of scrimmage. We just couldn't pull together like they did and fix our mistakes."
The Ballers did manage to thwart the Hawk Stars from scoring a TD until the second quarter.
However despite the solid defensive showing, the lone TD Blacksburg gave up was so demoralizing that they were never able to get back in the game.
"It's just difficult when they have a guy like Bill who can manage the game and just throw the lights out," CB Beast Baily said. "We had 2 of our CB's as the top 2 tacklers for this game, that certainly tells you something."
It certainly did as Hawk Stars QB Bill Whittemore completed over 70% of his passes and managed to pass over 200 yds. Coach kb2120 was not happy about the effort and execution of the defense.
"It's very difficult to make plays and beat teams when we can't make big plays. Granted Greg and Mike had sacks, but we just could not make that turnover or stop them on 3rd down that would have changed the momentum. We really need to get back to the drawing board and devise a gameplan that is going to allow us to do this. Because right now we're not and it's not acceptable to have 2 corners leading us in tackles."
Next week the Ballers play the 1-12 Strathmore Devils who are last place in the Western Conference. The Devils have not scored a singled point in 6 consecutive weeks and have 4 times given up 100 points or greater. Clearly if Blacksburg wants to get back to form offensively this would be the game.
*Despite the loss guys it was a really hard fought game and I commend everyone's effort. Graz Manius gets the game ball for one hell of a swim move and 6 yard sack. Let's rebound next week and revive our win streak

Ballers Lose 24-6 in Sloppy Game
SASKATOON (BP) -- The Ballers came onto the field today riding a 3 game win streak and facing one of the toughest teams in the Canadian AAA Western Conference in the Saskatoon Raiders. However the Raiders proved to be the better match beating the Ballers 24-6. The Ballers showed that they could play with the Raiders, but 4 turnovers and no production offensively caused the Ballers's loss.
"It was a hard fought game and we just beat ourselves," Kicker Troy Westwood said who missed an XP and a 50.5 yd FG. "It really is difficult to win, because while playing the other team we were also beating ourselves with turnovers and bad plays. The Raiders do deserve a lot of credit though as they are an excellent team."
Westwood had a tough game and could not convert on any of his FG tries, in addition to his woes the Ballers also turned the ball over 4 times. QB Khari Jones was hounded with pressure throwing 3 INT's. In addition to 3 INT's the Ballers fumbled the ball 4 times, although Saskatoon only recovered 1 of those 4 fumbles.
"I think we just got to careless with our fundamentals," QB Khari Jones said who finished with 180 yds passing and a score. "We were so concerned with putting up points on the scoreboard and making big plays, that we forgot you have to do the little things right."
The little things were what the Ballers lacked, as well as big plays on the defensive side of the ball. The Ballers were unable to stop the Raiders's potent offensive attack and could not get stops at key times. In addition the Ballers as a team had 7 missed tackles and allowed WR Deacon Moss and QB Willie Beamon to shred the Ballers defense.
"The stops did not come and when they did we couldn't capitalize offensively," LB Sev Shepperd said. "They did not blow us out at all, I think we could have won this game but we just did not make the plays we needed to and could not get the stops on critical downs."
The Ballers offensively did not execute the gameplan they came out with which was to pound the ball and wear out the defense with the ground game. RB's Alex Casino and Dan Etheridge managed 42 yds on 20 carries combined and the Ballers as a team only managed 46 team rushing yards.
"Their defensive line is extremely stout and just would not budge," OT Fatty McMuffin said.
"The lanes were not there for the backs and we were just beat on the line of scrimmage. I think what we needed to do was play better as a team. I don't think it was the gameplan that hung us up, I think that was fine but the execution was obviously not there."
Next up the Ballers will try to rebound against the Mt. Oread Hawk Stars who come in at 9-3 and 4th place in the Canadian AAA Western Conference. A very formidable opponent, the Hawk Stars actually beat the Raiders earlier in the season. Their defense has not given up over 20 points the entire season and they have a very talented offense led by QB Bill Whittemore.
*Good game guys despite the loss. The game ball is going to OG Gin Rummey who had 3 pancakes. Let's try to win one next week guys!*

Ballers Squeak Out 3rd Win in a Row 16-13
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- The Ballers got a close win today, posting a score f 16-13 against the Phoenixville Kings, who came into the game at 5-5 with the Ballers coming into the game 6-4. It will prove to be a good gift for their missing owner.
The game started off pretty ugly for both teams with 3 interceptions, 1 lost fumble, and a sack in the just the first quarter.
"Yeah it was a tight game alright," said Ballers CB Gordon D'arcy, "So many turnovers early on but a good win in the end."
Ballers QB Khari Jones was pressed hard in this game by a very aggresive Kings defense, who hurried him twice, and sacked him twice.
"Their defense was just too strong for us." Said backup RG Halo Three, "We simply weren't ready for their aggresive style of play."
The Offensive line simply couldn't overpower the Kings defense totaling only five Pancakes.
"They were too powerful for most of us to push down," said LG Hank Hitch, who managed to get 2 pancakes, "I think we really need to start to train just a little harder to make up for it."
One of the heroes of the game was Troy Westwood who went 3/3 on FG and 1/1 on PAT. He made Field Goals from 40, 42, and 42.5 Yards.
"I just came to the game prepared and ready to do what I'm paid to do." says Troy Westwood, "I lined up my kicks and put it through the uprights."
The Blacksburg defense did a great job holding the Kings running game under control. They only totaled 87 yards on 33 carries, for 2.6 yards per carry.
"We just got up in their faces and stopped them in their tracks." says LB Aaron Wilson, who had 12 tackles and 2 tackles for loss.
The Ballers totally shut down the Kings passing game, holding starting QB King Hine to only 10/21 passes for 128 yards, and intercepting him once.
"I saw the pass as it was coming to their tight end, and he fumbled it, so i grabbed it out of the air took it up a bit before he caught up to me." Said SS Dinkin Jones.
The score could have been 16-6, but the Kings got a lucky break late in the fourth quarter with some blown coverage within the two minute warning. Luckily the Ballers were able to run out the clock in their final possession.
"I thought Oscar had him covered," says CB Jack Robinson, who was involved in the play, "I guess he thought the same thing, so we both left their guy alone and he got away from us."
Next week the Ballers face the 8-3 Saskatoon Raiders, who are ranked number 5 in the Western Conference. This a chance for the Ballers to prove that they are a playoff contender in the Western Conference.
Game ball goes to Troy Westwood for basically winning the game for us.

Ballers Handle San Fransisco Easily 49-0
SAN FRANCISCO (BP) --The Ballers posted their second straight blowout with a 49-0 win over the San Francisco Sucka Free's. The Ballers beat the Sucka Free's decisively on both sides of the ball, producing an excellent defensive and offensive attack.
"We really just dominated today and showed whose boss," DE Speed McLovin said who was busy wrecking havok with 1 sack, 1 hurry, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defended, and 1 tackle for loss. "The whole defense just came together, played well, and executed. It's great when you have games like this that boost team morale and help take the pressure off."
The Ballers certainly had no pressure to deal with. They held the Sucka Free's to 100.5 total yards offensively. And forced them into 14 punts.
"We just made stops and converted plays we needed to," DE Graz (EDIT: ) Manius said. "The whole front 4 did a great job and stopped the opposition right in their tracks."
The Ballers offense faired just as well.
Khari Jones threw for 269.5 yds and 2 TD's to Kellen Edwards. In addition to the potent passing attack, the Ballers made use of their depth at RB. Alex Casino and Dan Etheridge had 4 TD's and 98.5 yds between the 2 of them.
"It was a great job by the offensive line and holes just developed," RB Alex Casino said. "It was really easy for us to pick our spots with how weak the other team was and how well we executed."
The offensive line was in fact a major reason for Blacksburg's success. Double digit pancake numbers for 4 of the top offensive lineman, highlighted Blacksburg's dominance in the trenches.
"We just came out of our stance ready and pushed the other guys backwards," OT Fatty McMuffin said. "All of the guys on the line prepared well for the game and just worked together as a unit."
Next week the Ballers will face the Phoenixville Kings who come into the matchup at 5-5. The Kings match up very well with the Ballers and scored a staggering 146 points against the Strathmore Devils. The Ballers should have their hands full with a very formidable and talented team.
*This week's game ball goes to the entire offensive line. You guys did a phenomenal job paving the way for 5 rushing TD's and knocking the opponents on their back every play. Great wins guys and let's do it again next week!*

Ballers Snap 2 Game Losing Streak
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- The Blacksburg Ballers today achieved their first win in 2 games after a decisive 27-6 blowout of the Sudbury Spurs. The game featured a newfound offensive gameplan by the Ballers and a stout Blacksburg defense that gave up only 181.5 yds.
"It was really a change from our recent philosophies," Head Coach Mike said regarding the team's overwhelming use of the run. "We saw that the last 2 games we played we abandoned the run and as a result were unsuccessful. The coaching staff and I saw this trend and we decided to put more of an emphasis on our ground game."
And the plan worked to perfection. The Ballers amassed a staggering 160 yds on the ground led by RB Alex Casino. Casino had 62.5 yds and 2 TD's on 17 carries. Pinchthat Nuggetout, Dan Etheridge, and Russell Roch also pitched in for a combined 20 carries on 96.5 yds.
"It was really a great effort by everyone," RB Alex Casino said. "The offensive line has to get a lot of credit. They really won the battle up front and helped the backs find the holes easier and just burst through."
The Ballers's offensive line churned out another successful day blocking for 160 rushing yds, no sacks, and 7 pancakes.
The Ballers defense faired just as well as the offense. The Spurs were only able to gain 181.5 yds and were held to 6 points.
"The whole defense just stepped it up and delivered," CB Oscar Michael Jordan Robertson said. "It's great when you have a defense that works together as well as we do and makes some tremendous plays."
The defense provided not only constant pressure on the Sudbury QB's and a tough front 7 that stopped runners in their tracks, but also put 7 points on the board. Safety Sargent Pepper made a great play on the ball and made an INT for a TD.
"Really...was....a....great......play", Pepper said panting after the game following the 41 yard scamper. "I....think....our.....defense.....did......great."
The Ballers's next opponent will be the San Francisco Sucka Free's. The Sucka Free's come in at 2-7 and 13th place in the Canadian AAA #2 Western Conference.
*Today's game ball will go to LB Aaron Wilson. Aaron had a great game with 11 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Great job guys and let's win one again next week!*

Ballers Fall 17-13
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- The Ballers fell today to the Moorseville Anglers, 17-13 marking their 2nd loss in 3 games. The game was highlighted by a large aerial attack on the part of the Ballers which culminated in a total of 72 passes thrown by Ballers QB Khari Jones. Jones was harrassed during the entire game, despite no sack given up by the offensive line there were in total 5 hurries against Jones and 9 drops by Ballers receivers.
"We just came out against a very good team and were outplayed plain and simple," Jones said. "We just need to rebound from this loss and try to execute next week."
When asked about the high pass/run ratio Jones had this to say.
"It really makes no difference if we ran it 100 times or passed it 100 times instead. We were just outmanned and didn't play to our ability."
The Ballers only ran the ball 21 times during the game which may have had an affect on the way Mooresville played their team. The Anglers did not give the Ballers 8 man fronts the entire day, and therefore Jones was forced to pass in nickel and quarter situations.
Defensively the Ballers held their own. Despite 2 early TD's given up through the air, the Ballers buckled down and gave up only 3 points through the next 3 quarters.
"We did our job defensively and they did their job offensively," LB Aaron Wilson said who had 4 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. "It's difficult when we gave up those 2 early touchdowns because that really hurt us throughout the game. We played well, but our offense just had a hard time getting anything going."
The Ballers received many different looks from the Anglers on the ground. 4 RB's on Moorseville combined for 96 rush yards, and to Blacksburg's credit none of those 4 RB's went over 30 yards rushing.
Next week the Ballers will face their toughest opponent yet, the Yukon Gold Rush who come in 3rd in the Western Conference and have a 6-1 record. The Gold Rush have one of the best defenses in Canada AAA with the highest point total given up this season 13 points. They also face RB Benjamin Linus who last year was 2nd in the Canadian AA with 1,099 rushing yards and 1st in the Candian AA with 9 rushing touchdowns. The Balles will have to buckle down defensively to stop Linus and try to get something going offensively in order to break through the difficult Gold Rush defense.

Ballers Bounce Back 38-3
OTTAWA (BP) -- Following a 24-13 loss that snapped a 3 game win streak last week, the Ballers burst back into their regular form with a 38-3 win against the Ottawa Chiefs. The win was highlighted by a superb effort by the defense and an excellent performance by the offensive line.
"We went out there and just did what we were supposed to do," DT Sir John Law-Rosa said who finished with 2 tackles, 1 hurry, and 1 tackle for loss. "The whole team just stepped it up this week and we played Ballers football."
Law-Rosa led a defensive charge that pummeled the Chiefs all day long. 8 hurries, 2 INT's, and a sack were the highlights of a defense that emulated the Steel Curtain and Purple People Eaters.
"It was a group effort that culminated in guys making some really nice plays," CB Beast Baily remarked who had 2 INT's which brings his conference leading season total to 5. "It was a team we should have beat, but I'm still impressed that we went out and played so well."
The offense too had their share of success. Captivated by the stellar play of QB Khari Jones, the offense had its best game yet. The offensive line combined for 45 pancakes, QB Khari Jones threw for 3 scores, and WR's Mark Byrne and Sterling Driver had 20 catches and 3 scores combined. Khari Jones marveled at the way the team pulled together offensively.
"I think what we did this week that was different than the other weeks was that we just came out and put everything on the line. In the previous 5 weeks we came out and worried so much about making mistakes and not getting points that we lost focus and confidence in ourselves. I really have to credit all of the guys and coaching staff for drawing up a great gameplan and executing it."
In addition to Jones's stellar play, the offensive line provided protection all game long. They had 45 pancakes and did not give up a single sack.
"We just had great chemistry today and worked together as a cohesive unit," OT Fatty McMuffin said who had 14 pancakes himself. "It's great to see the other guys out there getting flattened on their back every other play instead of you yourself."
The Ballers next opponent will be the 3-3 Mooresville Anglers. The Anglers lost today 19-13 against the TSW Titans and still cling to the 8th and final playoff spot in the West. Also an intersting note: In their 3 wins Mooresville averages 38 points per game, but in their 3 losses they average a 8 points per game. So clearly when the Anglers are hot you can't stop them, but when they're not (to put it bluntly) they are pretty damn awful.
*Game ball goes to Beast Baily for his 2 INT, 2 PD performance. It was tough picking a game ball recipient this week because everyone did so great! Let's hope next week is the same result!*

Ballers Lose 1st in 3 Games 23-14
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- In front of a home crows and an upgraded stadium with some new seats, the Blacksburg Ballers unfortunately snapped a 3 game winning streak with a loss today 23-14 against the North American NDL'ers. The Ballers were unable to stop QB David Riccio who had 253 yds, 3 TD, and 0 INT's.
"It was tough to stop their offense," CB Beast Baily said. "They were just clicking on all cylinders completing passes and making TD's. We just didn't capitalize on our oppurtunities and make the most of what we had."
The Ballers came into the game evenly matched against the NDL'ers with a main concern being their interior line. They started an unproven DT in Brian Freeney, who to his credit played extremely well.
"It was tough throwing Brian in there like that," Defensive Coordinator Kage said. "He played well and held his own there, but with James [Harvard] having some issues with his stamina we had to start Brian."
The offense did not fair any better than defense, with Khari Jones having to shoulder the load and playing well to his credit. He had 229 yds, 2 TD, and 1 INT while the Ballers rush offense went nowhere. Russell Roch was the leading rusher with 27.5 yds and nothing went well as far as the ground game.
"Getting 8 man fronts all the time means we're just not going to get a lot of yards," RB Dan Etheridge said. "We got those 8 man fronts and they had a superb secondary that stopped a lot of the big plays we needed."
The Ballers are looking to next week as they play the lowly Ottawa Chiefs who come in at 1-4.
*Khari Jones receives the game ball after his 2 TD performance. Great job Khari and everyone else despite the loss. Let's bounce back and beat the Chiefs next week!*

Ballers Post 2nd Straight Shutout 25-0
ABBOTSFORD (BP) -- The Baller posted one of the most dominating performances in Canadian AAA history today, posting their 2nd straight shutout this time against the Abbotsford Miners. Holding the Miners to -6 rushing yards and a lowly 101.5 passing yards, this could easily be one of the best defenses in Canada's football history.
"It was just absolutely superb," DE Speed McLovin said who wrecked absolute havok on the Miners with 12 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 3 hurries. "We just went out there and played our game. Obviously we exceeded in our expectations and performance."
The Ballers certainly did exceed, with 357.5 yards on offense. Including an excellent game by QB Khari Jones with 269 yards and a TD. In addition WR Sterling Driver added 11 catches for 98 yards. Driver said he was stunned by how well the team played.
"There are not words to describe how happy I am right now. We just absolutely dominated and I can not wait for our next game."
Troy Westwood also kicked a career high 6 field goals, Westwood eventually got so tired of kicking field goals that the punter had to come in!
This victory improves the Ballers record to 3-1 and marks the 3rd straight victory for the Ballers season.
Next week the Ballers will play the North American NDL'ers who will also come in at 3-1.
*Speed McLovin that was the most dominant performance I have ever witnessed by a football player. You my friend deserve the game ball hands down after those 5 sacks, 12 tackles, 3 hurries, and 3 tackles for loss. For everyone else great game as well!*

Ballers Blank Sofa Kings 16-0
BLACKSBURG (BP) -- For the first time in team history the Blacksburg Ballers shut out an opponent. The Ballers dominated every facet of the game and showed it with a 16-0 whopping of the Sofa Kings. Defensive Coordinator Kage gave his thoughts.
"The effort shown by the defense and the execution was impeccable. I have never seen a better performance by a defense in my life."
The Ballers held the Sofa Kings to just under 200 yds total offense, 103.5 rushing and 88 passing. They forced 4 turnovers and 8 punts. CB Beast Baily once again had a stellar game, this time intercepting 2 passes.
"The whole secondary played well and on those interceptions all I did was read the QB's eyes and jump on it. I think if our defense keeps playing like this week in and week out we should be there in the end."
The same could not be said for the Blacksburg offense which had a tough time against a very formidable Sofa King defense. They were held under 300 yds of total offense, sacked once, and hurried 5 times.
"It was tough to find any running room," RB Alex Casino said after a 56 yard 17 carry effort. "The whole running game got bottled up there at the line of scrimmage and we just couldn't get any big plays. The Sofa Kings had a tough front 7, but I think if we just keep pounding it at teams in the coming weeks we should do better."
QB Khari Jones had a tough outing as well. Going 30 for 62, 203 yards and 1 TD. Jones was hurried 5 times, sacked once, and forced into throwing under 50% completion.
"It's tough when you have a team that has such an elite secondary," Jones said. "They had some great ballhawks out there pouncing on every play. Thankfully our defense stepped up and our receivers made some critical catches."
The Baller will play the 0-3 Abbotsford Miners next week. The Miners are one of the basement teams in the Canadian AAA and should be a very easy win for the Ballers.
*Game ball will go to Beast Baily for the second straight week. 2 INT's, 1 PD, and 1 FR great effort Beast and great game everyone else!*
