"Back in Blacksburg" Playoffs Begin

North Delta Huskies (11-5)
@
Blacksburg Ballers (12-4)

BLACKSBURG, VA - With the regular season in the books, the Blacksburg Ballers have so far delivered on their goals for the 4th Season. The "Back in Blacksburg" campaign was focused on bringing back the all-stars, bringing a playoff game back to Blacksburg and the last goal that is on every players mind, bringing another conference championship.

In their first season in the CPL, the Ballers rose to the occassion against some tough competition walking away with a 12-4 record to show for their efforts. Its not 16-0 season but in the first year in the CPL, its a pretty damn good record. The Ballers suffered defeat at the hands of the #1 Drinkin Hellraisers, #2 Yukon Gold Rush, #3 Moose Jaw Fighting Hobos and #6 GDS Revolution.

What is most shocking about this season is the level of play that has increased amongst the players. No one thought Khari Jones could top last seasons performance, but he did, shattering records across the board. Ryan Betesta, Derek Pacheco and Jesse Lumsden also saw similiar success in breaking records and as a whole, the team smashed several club records as well.

This increase in play, as well as several key free agent signings this year has made this the 2nd best Ballers overall record and the 4th straight playoff seed for the Ballers.

Today, they look to advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs for only the 2nd time in their 4-year tenure against the #5 seeded North Delta Huskies who the Ballers hosted in the Ballers Bowl only two weeks ago.

The Ballers came out swinging and would go up 28-3 midway through the 2nd quarter with scores from Lumsden, Michael Silver, Betesta and Nuggetout but would see their lead falter in the 2nd half as the Huskies would pass for over 500 yards total and 5 TDs to tie the game up in the dying minutes to send it to overtime. The defense would make a big stand and the offense marched down the field to set up a Troy Westwood field goal that would clinch 4th spot for the Ballers and a home playoff game today.

The Ballers are looking to be on point today and not squander any early leads as this Huskies team can make you pay if you let them. The fans are ready, the coaches are ready, the Ballers are ready, its Ballers playoff football and it starts today!
