BLACKSBURG, VA - Ryan Betesta left Blacksburg a few days ago but is already coming back home for a showdown of two of the top teams in the Canada Pro League. The fans will be torn as the Ballers take on the Yetis in a preseason matchup, a rematch of the season 3 AAA Championship and a potential preview of a possible CPL Championship Matchup.
Betesta was traded to the Yetis for cornerback Rhys Clennon and both players will get a chance to play their former teams tomorrow. Ballers Owner Mike is certain that his boys will shut down Betesta and keep him from making an impact.
`He won`t even get 3 catches. Our boys know his style and they are ready for him. They`ve lined up against him before in practice and they are going to keep him at bay,` Mike told the Press.
Its a preseason game but the Ballers are intent on proving that they can hang with the Yetis after being embarassed the last time these two met in the AAA Championship, getting beat 43-17 and being held to -2.5 yards rushing. The Yetis have to be breathing a sigh of relief because the only threat that the Ballers had in that game was Betesta who had 14 catches for 238.5 yards and 2 touchdowns, both for over 50 yards.
`It`s going to be weird going up against the old guys but there`s no anomosity about the trade. The trade was important for both teams in making key adjustments to help better each other. I can say that I am looking forward to getting my first TD as a Yetis and it would be quite fitting to score it against my former team,` Betesta told the Press.
The Ballers duel with the Yetis tomorrow at the Ballers Bowl and it will be interesting to see how the fans react to Betesta.
