Owner's Box: Gearing Up for a New Season

So I want to welcome everyone to the new Blacksburg Press homepage and thank Ryan for his help in making this. I will be posting segments on here titled the "Owner's Box" which will basically be an opinionated piece on different topics about the team, GLB, ect.

I would like to say first off that it has been an excellent off-season so far. We've gone after a number of free agents and landed a few that we think as a coaching staff will help this team. The spots where we felt we needed depth and improvement have been given considerable upgrades, and we have a few moves that are in the works as well.

The toughest part about off-season is that the players are not actively involved. I know that if I wasn't owning or GM'ing a team I would be bored out of my mind because there is just not enough activities to hold yourself over for a week and half.

This is something Bort has to fix.

And there have been a few interesting suggestions. Like allowing money to mean more than just paying for equipment, this would allow players to buy different things and show it off during the off-season. The private forums are a nice added feature too.

But there really hasn't been anything to actively engage GLB players in the off-season process, unless you're a free agent. I'm not sure exactly what should be added, maybe a draft of some kind or scrimmages year round. But if this game is going to expand even more than it has, the admins have to find something to keep your attention for that time.

So that's basically my take on the off-season. If you have any suggestions for what should be done to make it more fun post a comment with your ideas.

-Mike
