READING, Railroad (BP) -- After 4 straight wins the Ballers fell to the Reading Redskins 16-9. The Ballers once again had troubles on the offensive end, but played stellar on the defensive side of the ball.
DE Speed McLovin' told the BP that he knows this team is better than what it showed this afternoon. "People don't realize the dedication that players have to this team. Guys like Khari, Dan, Sterling, Alex, Bricky, Jacob, and all of them on the offense put forth so much time and effort that it's really frustrating when the media has so much negativity to them."
The offense only mustered 16 points and Khari Jones had 2 interceptions. Jones finished with 186.5 yds and 0 TD's.
"It's tough when you play a team as good as Reading," Jones said. "We were going into this game really hyped about the chances we had, and unfortunately we didn't convert. I think you'll see that this offense will be in much better form when we play in the playoffs."
The Ballers jumped out to a 9-7 lead at halftime. However 3 field goals by the Redskins in the 4th quarter sealed the victory for them.
The Ballers next task is facing off against the Drinkin Hellraisers. As the 8th seed and last team in the playoff bracket, the Ballers must play the 1st seeded Hellraisers. The 13-3 Hellraisers have won 7 of their last 8 games and are 1st place in the Canadian AA Western Conference.
Despite being heavy underdogs LB Chuy Miller gave a candid expression of why he isn't worried.
"Why should I be worried? We are THE Blacksburg Ballers, we are THE team to beat, and nobody is going to tell me any different."
