BLACKSBURG, VA - There's been a very sombre attitude around Blacksburg over the past few days. The Blacksburg Ballers (currently 5-6) were expected to have a better turnaround then what they are producing after signing star QB, Khari Jones from the Mexican Hitmen. Instead, the 4-4 Ballers saw a turn for the worse with one win and two losses under the reins of the new QB; the last of which was a game that they could've won had Khari not been forced to leave the game late in the 4th.
"I took a couple of steps to the side, threw the ball up there and then just got rocked from the lineman. I got the wind knocked out of me and just wasn't feeling good for the next few minutes," Khari commented.
Don't worry Ballers fans, Khari is going to be playing in today's game against the Thunder Bay Storm and not only that, he is more fired up then ever.
"People have a lot of expectations about me being here and they want me to take this team to the promised land and I can tell you that it's coming, just sit back and relax. As for us and the Thunder Bay Storm, there is a storm coming and it's the Khari Jones air attack and we're going to let it pour on this Thunder Bay defense. Remember my debut against Phoenixville, one of the top teams in the league? I let it pour with 350 yards passing and I plan to do it again to TB but this time, we're going to connect for TD's and bring home the win."
Khari better bring in the TD's if he expects to win because in his 3 games, Jones has only connected for 2 TD's. The shining light is that for a team with so many problems with INTs (having thrown 15 as a whole), Khari has only thrown one of those and that was in the loss to Phoenixville. The stats don't add up to the negative results that the Ballers have been seeing. Jones has thrown the ball 133 times, completing 76 of those for a 57 completion percentage, 700 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT and no sacks which is a credit to his outstanding offensive line.
Khari is coming off his best outing so far in the 20-16 loss to Niagara having completed 23/33 passes for 170 yards but no TD's. Khari and the team will have to be spot on, and healthy, if they want to get by Thunder Bay and keep the playoff hopes alive but Khari has complete faith in the team.
"I don't want to guarantee a victory because that's too much pressure to live up to but if this team comes together and plays like we've been playing in the past couple of games, we can beat anyone in this league. It's time to live up to the hype. Bring your umbrella's because we're going to make it rain on the Storm's parade!"
