Blacksburg Pummels Thunder Bay 20-3

THUNDER BAY, Canada (BP) -- The Blacksburg Ballers played a superb 60 minutes of football and as a result came out victorious. Led by a tenacious defense that gave up a measly 3 points to the opposition, the Ballers won decisively 20-3.

"Everything was clicking and we just executed to perfection," Said Blacksburg linebacker Michael Beasley who had 4 tackles in the game. "It was great to see us finally wrapping up and making those tackles we needed to make."

The game started slow with both teams managing to stop each other's offenses. At halftime the Ballers held the slim lead, 6-3.

"It was really a tough fight in the first half," QB Khari Jones told reporters. "I was really getting a lot of pressure all game, but I definitely commend our line for holding up under those conditions."

Jones finished 26 for 48 with 205 yds and 1 int.

Blacksburg however pulled ahead in the 3rd and 4th quarters scoring a touchdown in each. First on a 3 yard scamper by RB Alex Casino and then on an 11 TD pass from Tom Mason to Anthony Davinson.

"I think the whole team showed that we can play with the big guys in the league and that records really don't show the true character of who you are," LB Chuy Miller emphatically told the Blacksburg Press. "It really isn't about the individual performer, but about the team effort and I think we've really been coming together to form a great bond."

Up next the Ballers play the Sudbury Spurs who are 7-5. In order to stay in the playoff hunt
Blacksburg will have another must win situation as they are on the cusp of the Canadian AA playoffs.

Owner Mike has also asked the Blacksburg Press to issue this statement to his team:

"You guys played excellent out there and the effort you showed was impeccable. As always I award the game ball to the player who showed the best performance on the field as a player and a leader. This week I want to congratulate Chuy Miller as this weeks winner. He exemplified character, class, and an excellent individual performance. Thanks guys and good luck next week."
