Game Preview: Week #3 Abbotsford Miners @ Blacksburg Ballres

Abbotsford Miners (1-1) @ Blacksburg Ballers (2-0)

The Ballers return home today after a successful outing to TSW that amounted in a 38-3 victory with an outstanding performance by kicker Troy Westwood nailing 8 field goals on 8 attempts. The Baller Bowl is packed to the rim with the addition of 2260 more seats as the Abbotsford Miners head into town. Abbotsford started off the season with a loss but edged out the North American NDLers last week, 19-12. The Ballers defense is looking to raise hell once again after a 5 interception outing last week.

Season 2 Rewind

It's been a long time since these two teams met way back in week 4 of season 2. The Ballers defense will be looking for similiar results as last time when they shut out the Miners 25-0. On top of that, they pushed them back to -6 rushing yards and only 107 yards in the air. Khari and company had a semi-successful day putting up 88 yards on the ground and 269 yards in the air but would have to settle for one passing TD and 6 field goals. Troy Westwood received his first game ball in this game.

Making Their Debut

Following the departure of CB Oscar Michael Jordan Robertson, the Ballers are pleased to welcome his replacement by way of the Halifax Hawks of the Canadian AA #4, Teddy Martinez. Martinez has 9 tackles and 2 pass deflections so far this season and hopes to get more in this afternoon's game.

Keys to the Game

- Win the turnover battle! The Ballers have been a force on defense racking up interceptions and forcing fumbles and if this continues today, they can easily shut out the Miners.

- Fab Five air it out. These 5 wide receivers are hot and Khari is going to be looking endzone all afternoon.

- Go the extra inch! Too many drives stalled last week and settled for field goals. Our offense is better than that and this week, they have to be thinking touchdowns and pushing to convert on those 3rd downs.

Both teams have changed alot since last season but it appears the Ballers have made more changes for the better and should still easily bury the Miners.
