Boomer beats out Westwood for Kicking Job

BLACKSBURG, VA - It's official, Troy Westwood's days as a kicker have come to an end in Blacksburg. Following a failed prediction in the playoff game against Drinkin', a dispute between Troy Westwood and Owner Mike led to talks with former Nigerian Nightmares kicker Mario Boomer.

Boomer was brought into training camp for a good old-fashioned kickoff competition in which the winner would get to take the kicking job next season. Boomer barely edged out Westwood who missed a 45 yarder that could've sealed his job and then went onto miss back to back's from the 50. Boomer has been declared the winner and will be the Ballers kicker.

"It suck. There is nothing more that I can say. I love the team, I love being here. We've been through some awesome times and some heartbreak and it will be sad to see it go," kicker Troy Westwood.

Troy leaves the Ballers with all of the kicking records in tact and mighty big shoes to fill. Troy nailed 128 of 156 field goals in his Ballers career as well as 218 of 230 PATs and a fumble recovery.

Troy was reportedly signed as a free agent to the Detroit Demon Lions but has since been traded to the Inland Empire Dirtballs. The Blacksburg Press wishes him the best of luck in the future.
