HONOLULU, HI - The Ballers will see a new face in the receiving corps this afternoon after TouchdownsOnly Owens was traded this afternoon to the Richey Royals. This trade comes just weeks after Ballhogg-Irwins Owens and marks the departure of team scout, Wylie Cowboy.
During his tenure, TouchdownsOnly Owens caught roughly 100 passes for just over 1,200 yards including 10 touchdowns. TD posted his best numbers in season 3, his only full season as a Baller, posting 743 yards and 7 touchdowns in the Ballers undefeated season. He was off to a similiar start this season with 215.5 yards and 1 touchdown.
TD requested the trade following a fallout with OC Ryan Betesta following the trade of John Wilson and Bo Szilaj for James Vita. TD was opposed to losing Wilson who posted stellar numbers in season 3 but the coaching staff went through with it anyways. *The preceding paragraph is untrue and added for dramatic effect.*
In return, the Ballers welcome WR Landon Swifty from the Richey Royals of the USA AA #3 league. Its a short week for Swifty who played his last game yesterday in a 41-24 victory over San Diego. Swifty was kept off the scoreboard recording 0 receptions while playing 26 plays. Swifty is hoping the change will do him good as he has only recorded 5 receptions this season for 43.5 yards and no touchdowns.
Swifty played 3 seasons for the Richey Royals bringing in 85 catches for 852.5 yards and 3 touchdowns. Swifty has also returned 71 punts with one of them being brought back all the way back for a score.
QB Khari Jones is looking forward to the change and welcomes Landon with open arms.
"It's tough to lose a great guy like TD Owens but problems on and off the field have hampered the chemistry of this great receiving corps and I wish him the best in what he does. Landon looks like a promising young prospect with a lot of speed and hopefully we can bring him into the mix very quickly." - QB Khari Jones.
Swifty will make his debut this afternoon as the Ballers look to get back on a track with a victory over the Hawaiian Hoyas.
